| This
page provides an overview of the experience that the directors and
chaperones have had in domestic and international travel, both with and
without students "in tow".
James
Warrick (Jazz Ensemble Director): Mr. Warrick
directed six international performance
tours. Those tours include three tours of Europe, (one
of those directing a 250-piece marching band in England), and two
separate jazz ensemble tours to the
European continent. He has also directed two tours of Canada with
jazz groups. As a student performer, he has taken a one month tour
in high school in an "All-American" jazz band. Domestic
travel directing includes taking groups to Atlanta, Michigan,
Minnesota, Tennessee, Kansas, and California.
Peter
Rosheger (Chamber Orchestra Director): Mr.
Rosheger has taken school group performance tours to Europe and
Canada. He was born and grew up in Italy. He has lived in Canada
and Alaska, and traveled all over Europe, Eastern Europe, and the
British Isles.
Judy Warrick
(Chaperone): International travel in Kenya, Africa; Israel;
Turkey; Greece; Mexico; Jamaica, and Canada.
Sara
Rosheger (Chaperone): Lived in England for one year and
has traveled in Scandinavian countries.
Phil/Marcia
Smith (Chaperone): Were chaperones on the Jazz tour of
Europe in 1995.
David
Ladd (Chaperone): Traveled in Europe, Central America,
the Middle East, and has taken a school group to perform in St.
Louis.
Patti
Rohwer (Chaperone): Has taken a school group to perform
in Japan.
Wes
Baumann (Chaperone/School Administrator): Has been the
New Trier Principal for five years and Assistant Principal for
many years before that. Tour Europe with our Jazz Ensemble
in 1995, and has also traveled to France with a school group.
Dr. Robert
Freilich will be traveling as our tour physician. Judy
Freilich will be assisting him and serving as a chaperone.
Bob and Judy are parents of Jon Freilich (Tenor Sax/ Jazz
Ensemble I) They accompanied the Jazz Ensemble on
their two week tour of Europe in 1995 and proved that they had the
student's best interests in mind when Bob missed much of the tour
attending to an injured and hospitalized student while in Germany.
Bob has an active practice in Internal Medicine. Judy has been one
of the most active music parents since her son Mike, who is now a
Junior at the University of Michigan, played in Freshman Jazz
Ensemble. She has coordinated the parent volunteers for the New
Trier Jazz Festival for too many years to remember.
Their participating on this tour should be a great relief to all
tour families. Dr.
Freilich will be researching health issues as they relate to China
and we will provide him with as much web page space as he desires
when he is ready to report.
